Our stay at the Efteling Grand Hotel has come to an end — for now. I’ve already written and talked plenty about it (and trust me, I could’ve shared so much more). If you want to see what it was like, I’d love to invite you to watch our video on @dutchthemeparknetwork or right here: Honest Tour & Review of Efteling Grand Hotel – Opening Day
But this post isn’t about the hotel. It’s about happiness.
Over the past few days, people kept saying how lucky we were.
And yes — we are. But a dear friend reminded me of something important:
You make your own luck.
You’re the one in the driver’s seat.
If you truly want something, you make a plan.
You take the first step. And the next.
For me, that’s always felt natural. So natural that I sometimes forget how much effort goes into it. But the truth is: nothing just falls into place — not even happiness.
When Efteling announced they were building this hotel, I immediately started planning.
I began saving. I blocked off my morning the day bookings opened, and when my first choice sold out, I picked what was still available — and upgraded. Not because I got lucky. But because I showed up. Fully. And because I made it possible.
So here’s what I want to leave you with:
If there’s something you want — go for it.
Do everything within your power to make it happen.
And even if it doesn’t work out in the end,
you’ll know you tried.
You’ll know you chose yourself.
And that, in itself, is gold.
💛
