It’s one of the things I hear most often. And to be honest? I don’t believe it. I don’t believe you can’t draw. I believe you just don’t want to — at least not enough to put time or energy into it. And that’s completely okay.
But let’s be honest about why something doesn’t work. It’s not a lack of talent. It’s usually a lack of interest, joy, or practice. And maybe a fear of being bad at something in the beginning (which, by the way, we all are). I don’t draw because I was instantly good at it. Even after thousands of hours, I still mess things up constantly. I draw because I love the process of learning. Of trying. Of failing and trying again.
Sometimes, it turns out better than I expected. And many times, it really doesn’t. So I try again anyway — because that is where the magic is. Learning is one of the most beautiful things we get to do. Not the classroom kind — I mean real learning. Trying something. Getting it wrong. Doing it again. Improving without even realizing it. That’s the process I live for. And I truly believe that if you allow yourself to embrace it, You can learn anything.
Drawing.
Cooking.
Coding.
Public speaking.
Starting a business.
Singing off-key until it sounds like something you meant to do.
It’s not about talent. It’s about showing up.
Trying.
Failing.
Trying again.
Loving the mess in between.
So next time you catch yourself saying: “I could never do that,” I hope it’s only about things you truly don’t want to do. And I hope — with all my heart — that you’re spending your energy learning and growing in something you love.
💛
