In the heart of Efteling’s beloved dark ride Droomvlucht (Dreamflight), there's a character that I love: the satyr playing music. That magical scene inspired this acrylic painting—a tribute to one of Efteling’s most poetic figures.
With blue water as the background, I wanted to create a sense of flow and freedom—like music itself. The satyr isn’t just playing a tune; he’s casting a spell. The water ripples behind him, calm yet alive, a mirror to the emotional world he creates with each note.
As a Dutch artist and lifelong Efteling fan, I often return to the park’s imagery when I want to paint from feeling rather than form. This satyr, half-human and half-wild, represents joy, music, nature, and the dreamlike escape that only places like Efteling can offer.
This piece is part fantasy, part memory—an invitation to pause, breathe, and believe in a world where music floats and magic is real.
